My approach to Yoga
Creating a Supportive and Transformative Practice
In my view, Yoga is more than just a physical practice—it’s a never-ending exploration of the body and mind, and a pathway to discovering the beauty of life. My classes are designed to provide a safe, nurturing space where students can reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and build resilience for daily life.
When we bring awareness to the present moment and tune into what’s happening within, we encourage the body to release tension and undo habitual holding patterns. This process fosters transformation and restoration, empowering us to show up in the world with greater ease, vitality, and agency.
Principles That Guide My Teaching
My teaching is grounded in key principles that support both physical and emotional well-being:
A Scaravelli-Inspired Approach
to Yoga
-
Sensory Awareness
This means reconnecting with a felt sense of what's actually happening in the body -
Regulation of the nervous system
So we feel comfortable to be with what arises and the sensations in the body -
Resilience
to help us take the effects of the practice into daily life -
Effortlessness in movement
as the antidote to modern lifestyle stresses -
Vitality
promoting general health -
Restoration of relation
allowing us to navigate our environment with more ease -
Agency
to help us show up in the world -
Sustainability
only a regular and doable practice will create change
I draw inspiration from the Scaravelli approach, which invites us to:
- Play with gravity to create ease and freedom in movement.
- Free the breath to deepen awareness and energy flow.
- Find space in the body to unlock its full potential and strength.
This gentle yet profound method encourages the body to work deeper and move more freely into yoga postures. It’s a way to explore how openings and connections can help us release tension and undo painful holding patterns.
By embracing these principles, the practice becomes a journey of restoration and transformation—allowing the body and mind to rediscover balance, strength, and vitality.

“Katrin’s approach is deceptively simple, yet the benefits are profound.”
Discovering Katrin’s Yoga, blending Scaravelli-inspired yoga and Eastern bodywork traditions, was life-changing 10 years ago. I’ve been delighted to work with her again online. Katrin’s careful, attentive approach and the kindness of the yoga make it suitable for all ages. I continue to learn from her insights into the body/mind connection. I now use her breathing exercises daily to feel grounded in these challenging times!
